Happy Friday friends! I'm sure you all have amazing plans lined up for New Years Eve 2012!! It's been a while since I have done a Freebie Friday post, so I thought, why not end 2011 with a free download?? Who doesn't love free stuff, am I right? This is part freebie, and part DIY as well, I figure, why not end the year with a fun project as well.

One thing I want to do better in 2012 is to tell the people that I love, that I love them more. Some of those people live far away and I want to send more letters/packages/random surprises to them. Because who doesn't love that?! I found this awesome mini envelope template that you can print out and cut from any fun paper to turn into a mini gift for a loved one. Just print from HERE, and use your creative mind to do the rest. I made one from simple kraft paper, washi tape, and some ric rac ribbon to give you a "mini" example. Freebie Friday: Creative Connection LA

If you follow me on FB or Twitter, you've probably seen numerous posts about this thing called Creative Connection. Maybe you've even been to one of our events. However, in case you are in the dark about what this is all about, I thought I would take the time to explain it in a little more depth... and do a little giveaway as well =)
So here are the 5 W's to who we are!

Who?
We're a group of fabulous female creatives! That's it - we're just a group of girls who either have creative businesses or are looking to enter a creative field. There are no exclusions- we accept them all:  Bloggers, designers, photographers, event planners, social media gurus, marketers, fashionistas, bakers, writers, actors, etc.

What?
We  offer support, friendships, networking, you name it! The purpose is to connect each other - make new friends, share your stories, work together!
When?
We meet once a month is cities all over the US. I'm the Los Angeles host so follow me and you'll always know when the next meetup is!

Why?
The group started when Elise Osterman and myself were chatting about the lack of real connections for just girls who are in creative fields. There is a lot of competition, but why not just friendly connections. I mean, we can all help each other out, right?!  So the first "meetup" was planned and there were about 8 of us total. I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but it's is turning into something far greater than I ever could have imagined =)
Where?
Online - everywhere. LA - different locations all around Los Angeles.

Now What? I"m giving away 1 ticket to our next meetup!!!

WINNER ANNOUNCED!
<< CONGRATULATIONS - LINZ!!! >>

I'm giving away a ticket to our next event! Valued at about $8.
(ok, not that expensive, but hey winning is just fun, right?!)
So all you need to do is:
1) Be a follower of my blog (1 entry)
2) Follow me on Twitter (1 entry)
3) "Like" Creative Connection USA on FB (2 entries!)
Then, leave a comment telling me what you did and I will pick a winner TONIGHT!
p.s. If you don't win - you can purchase your tickets HERE (Price goes up after today!)

Freebie Friday : Organize Your Blog Download!

Earlier this week, my photog friend Brienne Michelle posted a cry for help to get more organized - me being a lover or organization wanted to jump right in and offer my services. After reading her post about not only  just organizing a desk... but further - organizing and planning out your blog, I was immediately intrigued. I love to organize, write lists, and plan - but do I do it for my blog? Not really. So Brienne had this cute photo of a "blog planner" if you will. However, it was in color, and I don't have a color printer. So I made my own! It's pretty cheesy and plain - but it gets the job done! Here are a few snaps of the planner I made from this cute little orange 3-ring binder I found at staples =)

I added little circle stickers to the spine =)

I also got mini dividers and page protectors to hold some inspirations I find from books/magazine. How fun, right?! One day I'll switch out my pages and get the cute ones... like when life slows down haha

Freebie Friday: Business & Art

I feel so bad, it has been WAY too long since I've posted a freebie friday so I apologize and felt I should give 2 in one post - just to sort of make up for my slacking. One thing that I love about the blog community is all the inspiration that swirling around and the art of inspiring; if that makes sense. What inspires you? Lots of times it's a beautiful photo, a view of nature, a rainbow, colors, the way a leaf fall on the ground. So many things inspire me on a daily basis, but sometimes reading about good business strategies, or "business" type books really get my juices flowing. I'm a nerd, I know! So hence the subjects of today's Freebie Friday: a little art and a little business tadaa!

First up, on the fabulous blog Design*Sponge - Alison Storm guests blogs about free software for business owners. These tools are so perfect for people who are just starting out, and why  not save a few bucks when starting a business! There are some things definitely worth spending the bucks on, and you should, but if there is a great deal out there - why not check it out!

So I went through all the items, and I picked out the best ones I felt would be the most beneficial for you business peeps.

Free Advice! SCORE: Counselors to America's Small Business
Free Shopping Carts: Magento & Zen Cart
Free Business Forms: Smartbiz
Free Financial Software: Quikbooks & Gnucash (less accounting like)

Feed Your Soul: The Free Art Project
This is SUCH an amazing site - please check it out HERE!

Basically, Jen Wallace from Indie Foxx created the amazing art project where every month artists are invited to create a piece of art that will be made available for a free download - how stinkin' cool is that! So each month check out the free download section. These are just a couple of my favs from this month. I hope you feel inspired!

Freebie Friday - Cupcakes!

Ok, so I know it's not Friday yet... but I so wish it was! Do you ever have weeks that seem to just draaag on. Well, that is this week for me. I literally have been dreaming of the weekend haha - plus this freebie is just too sweet to have to wait till tomorrow. So lets just let the weekend begin!

The amazing Jessica from Vol. 25 has done it again and created the cutest little cupcakes! I am seriously SO impressed with her work! I read somewhere to only read blogs (or rather keep going back to blogs) that you leave feeling inspired and good about yourself. Not downtrodden or any negative feelings. Make sense? Well, I got to thinking about which blogs just tickle my fancy and leave me feeling good and inspired - and of course Vol. 25 came to mind. So if you need a good inspiration blog to add to your list - check it out!

CLICK HERE for the free download! How stinkin' cute are these?! Can't wait for all the amazingness these bad boys will inspire - I'm already thinking of projects =)

Don't be shy! Tell us a little bit about yourself
Hi everyone! Well, my name is Shannon LaBare and I'm so excited to share today with you! I'm a wife to the most amazing husband Scott. We live in the most amazing vintage red ceilinged apartments in Downtown Bakersfield (sounds dreamy, right?). I'm finishing my bachelor's degree in a few weeks at Cal State Bakersfield and can't wait to get out into the real world. Scott and I have an incredibly feisty and silly kitten named Augustus, Gus for short, or Gussy Bear if he's being cute. I am a lover of graphic design, painting, interior design, event planning and design, and all things pretty.
When did your love of creating start?
I've always been around a creative atmosphere. My parents are both creative and always were working on projects around our house. My parents taught me to never be afraid of color, they let me even pick the color of my carpet at age 5 (I chose Little Mermaid pink, of course!). Around high school I started experimenting with Photoshop. From there, I just started making things, learning programs, and figuring out where this was going to take me. Now, i'm 23 finishing school and hoping to take my design all the way. I just love designing, looking at designs, making art, and talking about it. Obsess much?
What is your favorite thing to create?
My favorite thing to create would have to be wedding invitations. I've only done a few ones, but they have really captured my attention. I love all the different elements that goes into create a suite, from the color scheme to the text styles. I just love it all. I love all things wedding, so of course, invitations is only natural.
Can you tell us a little about your creative process?
Well, every day I look though my favorite inspirational sites, save photos that speak to me, and go from there. When I'm starting fresh on a project, I usually start off with typography. It's amazing to me how new and different fonts can spark ideas as I go along and create the whole feeling of a piece.

How would you describe your style?
I'd like to believe that I can mold my style to fit whatever my client's looking for. Personally, I love a mixture of clean lines and vintage inspired designs. I love the mixture of modern and antique.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
I get inspiration from everyday life. I take in all that I see, make mental notes, and maybe infuse that into new designs. I love scouring the internet's blogs and websites of graphic designers, creative minds, and other inspired individuals. There's so much out there that's beautiful, unique, and all around inspirational.
