Tasteful Wedding: Haley & Bob

I'm so excited to share this wedding preview today!! Haley came to me looking for vintage rentals and some fun ways to dress up her awesome outdoor venue at Rancho Camulos Ranch, and then, I ended up doing her event design as well! We incorporated lots of vintage pieces, and also created a beautiful vintage flare throughout her beautiful tables, dessert bar, as well as her killer cake table. Tasteful Wedding: Molly & Caleb

I love it when people do vintage weddings because it is really apart of their everyday lives. This country chic wedding was the epitome of this couple. Not only do they love the country vintage feel, but they brought personal touches of what they love about country into their big day. Molly's family is also a traveling bluegrass family band, so the rustic country touches in her family's home provided the perfect background for their big day. And little touches like award winning beer made in Washington and the Washington apples as favors are a throwback to Caleb's hometown in Washington. And that's just the beginning! Tasteful Wedding: Megan & Dex

I just love sharing photos of real brides that I have worked with! I recently received photos from the fabulous A+C Photography of the adorable couple, Megan & Dex's wedding from earlier this summer! I had the opportunity to work with Megan when I used to work in non-profit full-time. She is seriously the sweetest girl you will ever meet. Like, seriously. And her wedding reflected that to a tee. With soft pinks and creams with touches of lace in a beautiful setting of an old cottage in a giant garden. Ah, I just love it. I had the opportunity able to provide the vintage rentals as well as her garter and hair piece. So take a peak and swoon over the pretty =)

Honest Wedding Tips

I recently had the opportunity to be interviewed & photographed by the lovely, Robyn Preston Photography! She wanted real advice from local wedding vendors for brides. It was so fun hanging out with her and even Olive got to come =)

Hire a coordinator.  Without one  you forget stuff and then on the day of the wedding details get left behind.  Friends and family don’t get to enjoy your wedding  when they are running around doing things for the wedding and that really pains me.  If I had a coordinator I could’ve had a day that I was pampered with my mom and friends and really enjoyed the day instead of running around trying to do all this DIY stuff.

Involve the groom.  Guys want to help but they are not given the opportunity.  They are not scouring the blogs all the time like the brides are so they have new and fresh ideas.  They are more raw and honest with their opinions.  And they might come up with a more original idea that better represents the couple.

Always have a consultation with the photographer. If they don’t 

take the initiative to meet this is a red flag!

Meet with your DJ and ask them to see a video of them at a wedding.  See how they set the tone and find out if they are a mic whore or if their style is too out there for you.

Placemats at Your Wedding?? Yes!

I recently designed a wedding that served up the same challenge that many brides come across in their planning process - place setting when you have a buffet. There are so many positives and negatives in regards to doing a buffet and much simply have to do with the style/preference of the bride & groom. But one thing people forget in the planning is when you opt for a buffet, there is no "place setting" at your tables for each of your guests. Now, you may not care at all about this, but in the design process, this can be a fun blank canvas sort of area that you can work with. Once way to better define the place setting sans plate is by adding a place mat. No, not your grandmothers colored quilted placemats - but something simple and sophisticated to create lines and space on your table. Now, it should be noted that this concept probably works best with longer 8ft tables and square tables, rather than the standard 60inch round.

I love the idea of incorporating a placemat & searched the web for some great inspiration for all the brides out there looking for something to spruce up their bare non-plated tables - or even with plates, the look is still chic and timeless!

Vintage Wedding Highlight Video

Misty & Greg's wedding was a vintage stylist's dream. Not only did Misty have a great vision and knew exactly what she wanted to do with the pieces she rented from Tasteful Tatters - but she had so many fun pieces of her own and fabulous vendors to work with on her big day. Vintage Wedding Snapshots

Happy Monday friends! I'm taking the day off of Tasteful business stuff so I can rest up from my crazy weekend full of wedding crazy-ness and catch up on home stuff like laundry, dishes, cleaning... you know, all that fun stuff =) I actually love organizing my life, makes me feel like I have control haha

Anyways, I had the amazing opportunity provide a truckload of vintage rentals for a beautiful wedding this weekend in Bakersfield, CA. The wedding coordinator & stylist happened to be a good friend of mine, so I stayed around and helped her since it was such a large wedding (300+ guests)! I even got to arrange some of the flowers! Loved that! So take a look at all of the amazing vintage elements of the day that I snapped on my phone, can't wait to show you all the real photos =)

Real Wedding: Katie & Joey on SMP

I'm so excited to share these photos with you today! You may remember this adorable couple from their killer wedding video I posted HERE... and yesterday Style Me Pretty featured their fabulous affair on their front pages. This couple and group of vendors totally deserved it. From the brilliant planning & design by the bride herself, to the fab photog, vintage ice cream truck, and who can forget the adorable mustache wearing photobooth... and that CAKE!! It was such an honor to coordinate and style this wedding at CBS Studios, thank you Katie & Joey for allowing me to partake in your special day!

Real Wedding: Katie & Joey

If you follow me on twitter or instagram, you probably saw a few shots of this wedding last weekend for Katie & Joey and CBS Studios. I had the honor of styling this fabulous affair and I am so excited to share their wedding video with you guys today!! This couple is seriously the cutest and I had such a blast working with them throughout the whole process... and did I mention their reception was on New York St. (Seinfeld set!) Yes, that's right. Spring Is In the Air

Hello lovelies! How about a little pretty wedding inspiration for you today?! The weather has been tripping me out lately... it's bright and sunny and looks beautiful and then I step outside and it's totally cold and blustery. Today I am so excited to show you all a new website out there to help ease the mind of brides in planning their big day. This tool can also help aid wedding planners and stylists alike! It is called Events Clique, and it is an amazing virtual venue builder! I could seriously play on this thing forever. Want to know the best part? It's FREE! Here's how it works:

1. SELECT the type of event/project you are planning
2. DESIGN your floorplan in 2D & view it in realistic 3D
3. SEE preferred venues/locations & venue
4. MANAGE your event/project with checklists & budgeters
5. CONTACT venues/locations & vendors directly

So you can have a visual representation of where you want your tables to go, where the dance floor will work best, and if you are using them - where should the buffet tables go?? You can map it all out here on this site! Planning a destination wedding and can't go to the venue 2x a week to figure out the details? Do it all here first! How awesome is that?

 I know all you brides holding your shindig in your backyard or a private property are thinking... "well, my venue isn't going to be there to choose from" that's ok! if you are using a space not listed, you can enter in the dimensions of your room/space to perfectly match up your venue!

Paper Flower Bouquet

 

Since posting about my wedding, I've gotten quite a few inquiries from brides to be & just crafters in general asking about the paper flowers in my bouquet. And I am FINALLY getting around to making an official post about it - sorry! Now, there are lots of tutorials floating about there on the web, and let me tell you - prior to saying "I Do" I seriously tried them all! I found the ones that worked best and now I'm sharing my findings with you, because, c'mon who doesn't love a fresh bouquet of flowers from their favorite love story... that wont die on you! ( All you black thumb ladies like me are totally nodding their heads right now).  This is based on using pages from vintage books. Some tutorials are great - but if you have your heart set on using old pages, you'll find that your paper is too brittle and will tear and fall apart. So grab your favorite old book (or maybe a not so favorite that your heart doesn't break when you cut it up) and let's make some flowers!

{S U P P L I E S}

- scissors

- those green floral sticks

- glue gun & glue

- old book

- little tacks (i used cute color ones, but you can use any kind)

{S T E P 1}
Cut circles about 2 1/2 - 3 inches in diameter curving your cuts to create little waves all the way around. I wouldn't make a template because you want each one a little different than the others. Then cut one 1 1/2 inch straight circle. I was able to get about 3 on a page. You'll want about 6 for 1 flower.

{S T E P 2}
Stack your 6 circles and put your smaller perfect circle on the bottom. Then place your tack through the center starting at the top so the back end of your tack is at the smallest circle. Now start scrunching up the paper starting at the top and make the top page the most "wrinkled" aka tighter scrunching, then a little looser on the next, and looser on the next. Do not scrunch your last circle piece. Now it should look like a flower!

 

Now, these by themselves would make great packaging elements or table decor for a dinner party because they lay flat. However, if you'd like to make them for a bouquet, fold that last circle piece on the bottom in half so that the spine is along the base of the flower (use the tack as your guide). Take your floral wire stick and lay that along one of the edges to create the stem. Use your glue gun to glue the wire to your circle and press the sides together. You can trim the excess paper so that it is just attached to the stick and you don't have the extra paper around it.

1 Year Ago Today...

Mr. H popped the question.. and I said yes (you can read the full proposal story HERE & HERE). Seriously a day that changed my life forever and when I look back it is amazing to see what God has done in my life in that short year. So many changes, so much love, and a whole new beginning. I can't wait to see what the next year brings! A HUGE thanks to my dear friend Aimee and her hubby Troy of Troy Grover Photographers who saw us through our dating process and offered their time and talent to catch our proposal on camera. I love you both and cannot thank you enough for being there for us on that day 1 year ago! (You can click on each photo to view it larger)

I thought I would just take a blog moment to say a HUGE thank you to some special vendors who helped make my wedding day amazing. When planning your wedding, there are the majors: venue, rentals, caterer, etc. But there are also TONS of details and sometimes those vendors are harder to find or harder to find good ones because there are sooo many people out there selling this and that. So, if you happen to be planning a wedding and looking for the perfect details to your affair, maybe this little directory of gems will help you out a bit. I used all of these vendors for my wedding and they were AMAZING. Nothing short of perfect and I would HIGHLY recommend them all to you.
