Some Music Needs Air...

It's Friday... and Fridays feel different to me now that I work full time from home on Tasteful Tatters. I used to get soooo excited about Fridays because that meant the weekend. And I couldn't wait for work to be over so I could do something fun and "Friday nightish." But now, it's kinda just another day, and usually means I have an event, or an event that weekend, so it is actually more work. Funny how life works out. And I love it. Today I'm working on TONS of projects and sometimes you just need some good tunes to get you through a long "to-do" list. I stumbled across this from my fab intern, Lynlee's Blog, and it just spoke to me, not that I necessarily relate to it - but it's one of those songs that gives you goosebumps it's so pretty. Maybe I'm just a sucker for Bon Iver. If you know me at all, I just love sad depressing songs, I also like to quote Elizabethtown as much as possible (see blog title). So this is what is on repeat for me today, what are you listening to on this Friday??

Fall Playlist

It's playlist time again - I seriously love these posts... I probably make a new playlist every week or something. I just love new music mixed with oldies, mixed with a totally random Glee rendition or hip hop song =) Anyways, this mix was inspired by my dear friend/college roomie/lover of fall Aimee Grover. Without fail, at the beginning of the fall season (and often before!) this lady would have a whole long brand spankin new Fall Mix to kick off our favorite season. She was so fun to live with and inspired me to take extra care of the dubbed, "Fall Mix"

So here is just a peak at the many songs that I've collected for my ever growing Fall Mix - so grab a salted caramel mocha and cuddle up!

The "A" List - Photography

I'm totally copying my dear friend Shannon's new series called, The A-List today. She posted HERE and I just loved it, so here I am... totally copying her =) Next week I'm going to share who is on my A-List for Musicians!!

So for my A-List today I'm showcasing one of my favorite photographers - Trevor Hoehne. He is simply amazing and I'm never bored with his photos. The colors - ahh the colors. I just love everything about it. He has this "blurry" series that I'm crazy obsessed with. Anyways, check it out. Love it. I promise you will.

July Playlist

I haven't done a Playlist post in a long time! So sorry about that. I try to do one of these once a month or so. This post should really be my playlist for June but better late than never ha. I thought I would share with you guys our wedding songs for this months playlist. Music plays such a huge role in both mine and Mr. H's lives and it's definitely something we're both passionate about. I think one of this first gifts I ever gave him was a mixed CD haha! All of these songs were specifically chosen and mean so much to us and just represent us and who we are as a couple. Anyways, happy hump day and I hope you enjoy our wedding songs =)

Bridal Party Processional: Sweet Child of Mine (Guns n' Roses) by: Vitamin String Quartet

Bridal Entrance: I Want You To Be My Love by: Over The Rhine

First Dance: Sweet and Low (Acoustic) by: Augustana

Father Daughter/Mother Son Dance: You Are the Best Thing by: Ray Lomontagne

Last Dance: Blue Eyes by: Carey Brothers

For all you ladies planning your weddings, I would highly recommend songs that MEAN something to you and your man. It definitely makes the whole day/experience that much more meaningful. I was so torn about our first dance song because I was worried what people would think. It's definitely not your traditional super sappy love song. But in the end I went with my gut and I am SO happy I did. It was probably my favorite moment of our whole day =)

Playlist : Silverspring

I love this Stevie Nicks song to begin with, but when I stumbled across Eisley band member Stacy Dupree covering it along with Darren King and Jeremy Larson I got chills. It has been on repeat all week. Also, Eisley just came out with another album - you should definitely check it out - awesome music.  So... not much a playlist - more of just an all around epic tune. And the videography... oh the videography - just love. Enjoy!

July Playlist

I know I missed June, I'm sorry! But excuse me... how stinkin' fast did June go for you all? For me, it felt like one day it was June 1st and before I knew it I was celebrating the 4th of July haha. So for July, there are just a few things that I am just loving, but as I get more accustomed  to it actually being July, I'm sure I will have more ha. I love summer and this summer in particular is fun because of the amazing people I get to be around everyday and the amazing hot, but not too hot weather we seem to be having =) So without further adieu, I give you my July playlist:

I'm all about GOLD this summer! Maybe I've always been about it, but I'm seeing more and more of it in stores haha. I feel like gold makes you look tan, matches almost every skin type and hair color, timeless, you can wear it season to season, and lets face it - it's just fun and Glamorous! May Playlist

All of my favorite things that I'm loving this May ~ I hope you see something you like or maybe you have something you are loving this month you'd like to share, I'd love to hear it!

1. Father's Day: Now, I know what you're thinking... "Emilee, Father's Day isn't till June!" I always wait till the last minute on stuff like this, so this year I'm challenging myself along with all of you who suffer this problem with me to start earlier!! I love this card from etsy seller Sweet Perversion Designs. So funny and so something my dad would love haha

2. Go Green!: These adorable re-usable ziplock bags by Sew Long Ziploc are perfect for your summer picnics, work, the beach. Get them now for the summer and save money and trees =)

3. Truly Smitten Blog: My shop Tasteful Tatters just featured a giveaway on Sarah's adorable blog and I am a sponsor there as well for the next couple of months. I just love all of Sarah's work and her daily inspirations. She is truly adorable and I hope you love her blog as much as I do!

4. Fight From Above: I recently had the opportunity to interview this awesome band for YooN'LA Magazine and I'll tell ya, they were SO fun to talk with. It didn't even feel like an interview, it was like they were long-time friends I haven't heard from in while and they are hilarious! Since, I've become addicted to their album L.A. Kids - definitely something to add to my summer playlists

5. Tan Wedges: These adorable yet functional shoes are my all-time fav for May and the rest of summer. They match with everything, the cork sole makes them super comfy, AND they are under $30 from Target!!

6. Trevor Heohne: Trevor is one of my favorite artists right now. His wife went to school with my best friend so I've heard his name and seen his stuff before, but I don't know I just keep finding myself heading back to his blog this month. He is doing some awesome stuff and his photos are so inspiring. I believe his work is truly a work of art.

7. Starbucks Re-usable Tumbler: ok so anyone who knows me knows I HATE drinking water. I know, that is so unhealthy for you. I just don't get thirsty haha. Anyways, despite my distaste for liquids, I have wanted the re-usable tumbler from starbucks since LAST summer and they sold out before I could get one. So this year, I bought one as soon as I saw them hit stores. And I must say - it's true love. I seriously love it. I drank at least 6 glasses of water today! So hydrate up for the warm months ahead with this fabulous tumbler.

8. 31 Bits: I was introduced to this organization through a friend of  mine and I just fall in love with what they are doing every day. Basically, this group of girls started this organization to create an international market and a voice for the beautiful jewelry (made from recycled paper!) the women are already making in Uganda. All of their products are bought directly from the women, are fair trade, are made from recycled paper, and are sold in boutiques across the United States. Check out their website and see all that their doing as well as their Online Store to support the cause.

Rodarte - All The Rage

I hope you all had a wonderful Holiday spent relaxing and time with family. I had an amazing time in Big Bear in the snow with my entire extended family, it was a blast - pictures soon to come =)

Ok, so I have been reading in the blogosphere for awhile now about this fashion label called Rodarte. I felt out of the loop since I had never heard of it before and apparently they are starting eh- started a line exclusively for Target! WooHoo!

Rodarte was started by 2 sisters, Kate and Laura Mulleavy, in Pasadena California in 2005. Both sisters went to UC Berkeley and after graduation they returned home and soon after launched Rodarte. The line is carried across the nation and stocked in retailers such as Barneys, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, etc (all the stores you would hear/see in a episode of Gossip Girl haha).

So now they have line at Target - you gotta check it out! The Target by my doesn't carry it yet, but there is plenty to peruse online HERE

Here are some of my favorite looks they carry - all for a great price!

Green is Sexy!

Now, I've always thought this... in college I was even involved in our campus' Granola Club. But guess who else thinks being Green is sexy? Rachel McAdams! I have always had the biggest friend crush on her and now it is only heightened. Check out the website her and her 2 friends made! They have a new feature where you can send in a postcard of how you are being green and they'll post it on their site. I'm totally going to do it - so should you!

Fashion Friday

Today, I am all about fall fashions. I love them. However, where I currently reside - it is forecasted to be around 91 today. Not so fall if you ask me. So on this beautiful Friday morning, I am boycotting this false fall and I am wearing flannel and boots! (In hopes that that will somehow turn the air chill) I am completely in love with this next photo from The Sartorialist and it makes me want to go to Milan! I wonder if they have real "Falls" there? hmm...

And this next fav of mine was also a recent purchase of mine - these rocking raspberry flats from no where else but the ever-fabulous Target! I saw them and knew I had to have them for fall - they are sooo fun, and surprisingly go with a lot! Check them out. buy them. wear them for fall
