I love good weekends

So last weekend was one of the best weekends I've had in a long time! My car has been in the shop for what seems like a century... so I took the train to Santa Clarita to be with my Andy. It was so nice to just relax, eat at fun restaurants, sleep in, catch up on homework... it was amazing! One afternoon Andy and I went to North Hollywood to this one area in Studio City that was filled with the most amazing antique shops and the most FABULOUS coffee shop called Aroma. They had the best coffee, the best red velvet cupcakes (and we all know how much I heart those) AND they had a book store attached to it! It was so fun... so of course I took pictures for you all to see it in all it's fabulousness. These are from the outdoor patio where we sipped our mochas =) Don't you just love good weekends??

Maemae Papererie - your new best friend

I have this friend, Megan, who makes stationary... but that is not all, she makes/designs all things fabulous. Check out here website MaemaePaperie Her designs are so fresh and fun and I love scouting out her blog to see what new and exciting projects she's been working on. I had the privilege to work with Megan when she was a graphic designer at Biola University's Associated Students. She did great work then, and she does more than amazing work now. So, if you are getting married soon, recently moved, need letterhead for a new business, or just love stationary like myself, check out her work and you wont be dissapointed!

A few weeks ago, she had a free download on facebook of some of her work and I thought I would pass that along to you so you can get a taste of all her fabulouness =)

For Free!

My whole life I've been told that you never get anything for free in this world. And I must say.... I love exceptions to the rules! Last night at the grocery store, I found amazing strawberries - buy 1 get one totally and completely FREE. Might I add that the 1 package I bought was only 2.99 =)

So this morning I ate them with the lovely Caitlin, and they were AMAZING. I love strawberries. They remind me of summer.

naturally I took a picture of them in all their freeness and deliciousness! haha

Shake it, shake it, shake it like a poloroid picture

So I love my Polaroid camera... ahem, Andy's camera =) Whosever it is, it is usually in my procession and just heart it. Maybe it is that child in me that loves instant gratification, but I love everything from tearing the package open to the noise it makes when it comes out to the empty little box you get at the end. Oh, and the fabulous grainy unique prints you get when you are never really sure what will slide out of the little guy!

Anyways, Andy knows my love for Polaroids and in an attempt to cheer me up on a long hard work day the other night, he told me about this application Poladroid to download to my computer that is literally a little virtual Polaroid camera inside your computer that you upload your digital photos to and you drag & drop into the little icon and out spits out a polaroid (the same noises and all!) I'm just addicted. I went a little crazy and uploaded a bunch of fun polas for you all to see

>>> how cool are they? So close to the real thing!

So, thank you Andy for always knowing the best ways to cheer me up =) And everyone else, download it and let the fun times begin >>> pola party anyone??

Hugs

So, I'm sitting at a desk overlooking the busy street writing away on a paper that is taking me waaay to long to finish (hence my blogging) It is such a pretty day and it just seems so unfair that I am confined to a chair indoors. boo. However, I've done some great exploring while trying to find the perfect words and I was perusing a site my wonderful friend Shannon told me about and stumbled across this little guy...

... isn't it presh? Now, if you know me at all, you know I am not particularly fond of cats, but Shannon is haha and I just think that hugs are wonderful... even if you are a cat =) Ok... enough of this ridiculous, back to writing!

Send us to Nigeria

Happy almost Easter! Many of you know that I am co-leading a missions trip to Nigeria, Africa this summer and just to give you an update: the team is still doing great. We are working really hard to get one of our teammates who is Nigerian and here on a student visa, the appropriate travel papers so he can go back & still get back into the states... and we are still fundraising! If you'd like to support our team in any way, you can make an online donation here at Biola's SMU site. I'd really appreciate anything you can spare. Here are some pictures of where we are going, enjoy!

More Holga Lovin'

A few weekends ago I went to Venice Beach with my lovely roommate, Caitlin and my new friend Ashley. It all started when were were doing absolutely nothing at all being as lazy as ever. I desperately wanted to use my new black & white film that I purchased in NY, but we couldn't think of anywhere to have our mini lil' photo shoot. And somewhere between a nap and some chocolate, Venice it was! I had never been to Venice before and boy, was it quite an adventure! While I walked along the strip and watched the people begging for not money, but pot and the people trying to get you to buy this and that along the street, and all the music & colors, I kept thinking how other people at Biola would respond to this environment. I just loved it! So much going on... I was on sensory overload. I was actually a little sad that I am now 22 years old and this was my first visit to Venice >>>> ah well. We had quite an adventure to make up for it; meeting thrift store owners and getting the scoop on the town, finding premier parking even though we thought we were lost, getting trapped into listening to some guys demo tape, and perusing thrift stores that were actually not thrift stores at all haha... Anyways, here are some Holga pics I took on our little adventure

Nigeria Update

The shirts that I'm sure you have all been waiting for are here! haha... I'm positive no one was ever waiting for these, but I thought I would let you know so you don't feel left out. The team I am leading to go to Nigeria this summer has shirts for sale at Biola University to help raise money to send us there. The shirts were designed by our very own Mitch Ajimatanrareje who is a member of our team and also from Nigeria himself! I am selling them out of my office at Biola and I am offering the opportunity to YOU to purchase one if you would like. They are $12 and if you are interested, just send me an email {emilee.sutherland@gmail.com} and I'll get one to you. We leave May 27th and can use all the help we can get. In other news, we added a new member to the team, Glory. She is a freshmen at Biola and is from Nigeria so she is such a blessing to have with us and help us prepare for our ministry over there. We are in continued need of prayer and funds so please keep us in your hearts!
